Softball players will be sent abroad for training: Jawed Hanif


KARACHI, Dec 14: Sindh Softball Association (SSA) chief Jawed Hanif said on Friday that the leading softball players of the country will soon be sent abroad for world-class training.
“Training at world-class facilities along with top international players will help our players polish their game and subsequently perform better in international
tournaments,” Jawed said during a reception hosted in honour of national players who recently participated in the National Women Softball Championship.
He said that players will soon be sent to foreign countries and talks are underway with a number of softball federations.
He also said that regular refresher courses will also be organised for local coaches, referees and players while specialists from abroad will also be hired to conduct those courses and to run camps.
Jawed added that the game of softball will be promoted from grass-roots level and in this regard SSA would soon organise Karachi Inter-school Championship.
SSA secretary Asif Azeem, who was also the organising secretary of the National Championship recently, said people have seen that Pakistan have immense talent available in the game.
“If we organise courses, coaching camps and invite foreign teams here, then we would be able to establish a strong national softball team, which could be able to forcefully participate in international tournaments,” Asif said.—PPI
